Well my love of old Mason jars keeps on going.
As you know from my previous posts on my jar obsessions, I love me a good jar.
And I love being able to reuse pretty things!
And I love being able to reuse pretty things!
Around Bloggyland, I had seen these soap dispensers, and thought they were so pretty, but just didn’t really know how I could make my own. (Actually, it was more just that I didn’t feel like it.)
Then suddenly one day I felt inspired, so on the weekend my hubby bust out the drill, and a pretty Mason jar soap dispenser was born.
Isn’t she lovely?!
Gather your supplies:
- Mason Jar
- Jar lid
- Pretty paper to jazz up your jar. Cut it to fit and cover your tin lid.
- A pump from an old dispenser. I took mine off of a lotion jar from the grocery store. I think you can also buy these at craft stores. But any old soap dispenser will do.
- Glue gun.
- Drill a hole in the centre of your lid, so that it is big enough to fit the bottom portion of your pump.
- Assemble.
- I used the glue gun on the bottom of the lid, to make a seal between the soap pump and the jar lid. This will also help to prevent the lid from rusting.
- Be pretty and pump on!
Too easy. Too pretty!

I too have been toying around with the idea of making one of these. One for the kitchen and one for the bathroom. Just haven’t done it yet. I love jars and just recently done an entire post on them with a link party.

I can’t tell you how much I love this idea. Sometimes I take my soap dispensers that are empty and cover them with a cute vinal label and refil them. I like this idea so much more. Thanks for sharing.

I love these! Quick question… How do you get the dispenser to stay? I’ve tried to use an extra one from home, and there is nothing for it to screw in to?
@Elizabeth PeckhamThanks Elizabeth! At first I didn’t use anything, but I made another one and actually used a glue gun and glued underneath the lid. It’s held really well! Good luck!

Very cute! I modified it slightly by cutting just below the threads on a plastic bottle, made the hole large enough to push the threading through, and just screw the pump back on. No gluing required and easy disassembly if you need to replace the mason jar lid.
Does the paper (on the top of the lid) get soggy from water drips?
I would also like to know if the paper on the lid gets soggy from water drips…Or does the rim of the lid get rusty after a while?

I’ve made these from Classico jars! Spray painted the lids to match the kitchen/bathrooms. I, too, cut the plastic just below the threads & push up through the hole to screw the pump lid back on BUT to help keep everything rust-resistent I go around the plastic, inside & out, with a thin bead of clear tub & tile caulk!
Completely broke for Christmas this year and this will make great Christmas presents for family! Buy some nice smelly soap and fill them up! Thanks!

I love this idea, however, I would use old pickle, and or relish jars, or any glass jar that a canning lid and ring would fit on. That way I can save my canning jars for canning. :)…Going to make several as gifts.
I think that this would look great with a smaller “jelly” mason jar, too
I saw this project yesterday and immediately had to make two for my kitchen, one for hand soap and one for hand lotion. Instead of using paper I used fabric to match my curtains. I cut a circle using pinking shears and attached it by using spray adhesive. They sure do dress up my sink area.

I’m not sure if it was Mason or Ball (I think Mason) but they just re-released repro’s of the old blue jars. I don’t know if these are limited edition or not. They would make really pretty dispensers. I’ve seen them at Ben Franklin’s.
