Why Oh Why Sweet Cherry Pie?

I’ve got to say it…time to put it out there.

Breville mini-pie maker you bite.  And not in the good way.

It’s over between you and I.

I wanted to love you, truly I did.
I’ve given you a few chances and you just never came through.
You don’t give me perfect little pies.

You give me burnt and undercooked pies all at the same time.

You are going into our garage sale.  Buh bye.

But I won’t blame you cherry pie.
You still tasted good, even though you looked like a disaster.
We still licked our plates clean.

I confess that I did not make the cherry pie filling.
But if you are looking for a great pie crust recipe, here’s one!

Easy Pie Crust
Makes 1 2-crust 9″pie
2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 tsp salt
2/3 cup shortening
1/4 cup water

  • Sift flour and salt into a bowl.
  • Cut in shortening until particles are pea-sized.
  • Sprinkle with water, 1 tsp at a time, mixing lightly with a fork.
  • Press into a ball.  Separate into 2 balls.
  • Roll out each ball onto a well floured surface.

And here are some pie filling recipes from my blog, that you might like:

Haha, I just made a pie that looks like murder in a dish. Kind of made the oven look like that too, actually. But it tastes good!:)

Thank you so much for posting this. It is not necessarily the pie maker that I’m interested in so much as what DOES NOT work. I’ve only been Food Blogging this past month and so many recipes and methods I’ve found fail to mention the pit falls or mistakes.

    Thank you again.
