Cake Doughnut Muffins…oh yes please!

Don’t they just sound so warm and squishy?!
Cake.  Doughnut.  Muffin.
My 3 favourite things all in one recipe.  Life is good.

Cake Doughnut Muffins
Save Recipe


  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • Topping:
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon


  1. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. In a separate bowl, thoroughly combine oil, sugar, egg and milk.
  3. Add liquid mix to dry mix, and gently combine. Don't overmix.
  4. Fill muffin cups about 2/3 full. I didn't use paper muffin cups for this recipe, I just sprayed a muffin tin with oil.
  5. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes.
  6. While they are baking, make the topping (butter and sugar separate!). Melt butter in one bowl. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  7. As soon as they come out of the oven, remove the muffins from the tin.
  8. Dip muffin tops in butter, then dip in sugar/cinnamon mix.
  9. Let cool!

    Loved this recipe, thank you!

    I subbed 5 Tbs. MILA and water for the Oil and they were still light, fluffy, sugary and oh-so-edible at our after school picnic.
