Bruschetta Garden Gift For Mother’s Day

Good morning!  I have a little last minute Mother’s Day gift idea for you today!

I know I’m kind of squeaking this one in just before the deadline, but I thought it was too cute not to share!  It was one of those ideas that I’ve had swirling around in my head for some time now, so after a recent trip to the greenhouse I just decided to make it happen!

I love gardening and I love food, so what’s more fun than a gift that gives you both!

This basket contains tomato plants and basil plants, which are the star ingredients for the most delicious of all appetizers, Bruschetta!

And as luck would have it, these two vegetables grow amazingly well together.  In fact, they are the perfect companion plantings!  Last year I planted these veggies together, and it was my most successful little garden – just full of beautiful tomatoes, and an abundance of basil!  Yum.

But you can’t give these plants as a gift without an amazing recipe for Bruschetta!  No worries, I’ve got you covered…I made a downloadable recipe card you can include in your gift!
(Just drag it onto your desktop and print!)

So if you haven’t got your Mother’s Day gift together yet, I hope I may have inspired an idea for you!

Have a delicious day!

Sweet & Simple Mother’s Day Garden Gift Basket

Good day friends!  How is your weekend going?  We’re enjoying a sunny one…although the wind will send you flying half across the country.  But we can’t complain, as there’s no snow in the forecast, and we were able to get out into the yard!  Spring has indeed sprung here!  And May is around the corner…I’m feeling the relief!

And with May comes Mother’s Day!  Do you have plans for Mother’s Day?  Gift ideas?

Mother’s Day gifts are so easy to give and wonderful to receive!  If you have a special gardener in your family this Sweet & Simple Mother’s Day Garden Gift Basket would be perfect to give!

This garden themed gift is pretty and fun!

I love gardening so much.  Aside from the kitchen, the garden is my happy place.
So for me, a garden themed gift is perfection!  I put this gift basket together with some of the things that I love, and maybe your Mom will too!

What I included in my gift basket:

Flower Pot
A flower pot is a great container to hold this gift because your Mom can use it this gardening season!

Set of Gardening Tools
I found this pretty pink set at WalMart, for less than $5.

Seeds or Bulbs
Make sure to buy seeds that will grow in your region.  In my basket I included Sweet Pea seeds and Gladiola bulbs.

Package of Seed Markers
I included a small package of plastic seed markers which always come in handy in the garden.

Gardening Magazine and/or Subscription
Everyone loves a great magazine to read!  Gardening magazines are great for gardening tips & ideas.

Coconut Sugar Scrub
This homemade sugar scrub is great for garden-weary hands.  Just 2 ingredients!  Coconut oil and sugar.  You can find the recipe for this amazing scrub in my Coconut Sugar Scrub post.

Gift giving doesn’t have to be stressful and expensive.
Thoughtful and simple presents are great, and always appreciated!

Pretty Packaging for Edible Gifts!

Hello!  I’m so happy that you are here.

I don’t say that enough.  But I am really, really lucky to have you here!

Last week I mentioned in my Cherry Ice Box Cookie post about a way to package up cookies for gift giving.  So I finally got a little tutorial together to show you how you can do this is a practical and pretty way!

Cookies look nice all wrapped up in pretty paper, but what about the grease marks?  Um, not so pretty.  But do not fret.  ;)  You can still have your pretty packaging!

Using wax paper and some pretty paper, you’ve got pretty AND practical wrapping paper!

(side note:  I do believe I used the word pretty 6 times in this post already…moving on)

It’s the most simple little project using supplies you already have at home, and it can be done in less than 5 minutes.

All you need is wax paper, some pretty scrapbook paper or tissue paper, punches or any flat embellishments you like, and an iron.  These are fun to make…they take me back to the days of Kindergarden when you ironed together wax paper and crayons…remember that?!

Here’s what you do:

Just punch or cut out some festive little shapes.

Sprinkle them on one sheet of wax paper.

Top with another sheet of wax paper.

Lay down a sheet of white paper to protect your iron.

Iron the sheet.

Voila!

There are so many things you can do with this.  Use sequins, tissue paper, punched out shapes…

That’s it.  So easy, practical and pretty!

I hope you found this little idea useful!

Have a delicious day!
