Earth Day, Simple Things We Can Do Everyday, Part 1

Don’t use paper or styrofoam cups.
Can you imagine how many disposable cups get used everyday?  Staggering!  And so unnecessary.
So, take your own re-useable mug to your favourite coffee shop, every day!

Speaking of which, on April 22, if you take in a travel mug to a participating Starbucks,
you will receive a free tea or coffee.

Mine is from Starbucks
Ditch the plastic water bottle!
Go glass!  Think about how many plastic water bottles are used everyday.  They are used for a few minutes, then tossed.  Crazy to think about the volume (not to mention the possible health hazards of plastics)!
Get a glass water bottle, and use it!  I love mine!

Use reusable bags for shopping.
There is just no need to be using plastic bags for groceries or shopping at the mall.  Go reusable!
(Just make sure to wash them from time to time.)
These are found here.
Use reusable produce bags.
This is a goal for me this year.  I’m getting rid of those filmy plastic produce bags, and getting reusable.
It pains me when I toss those plastic bags in the recycle bin minutes after getting home.  Such a waste.
So I am going to start using reusable produce bags.
Apparently they are lightweight enough not to add any extra costs to produce.  They can be washed too.
Use cloth napkins.
Just think about the waste from every meal when we use paper napkins.  Go cloth!
It’s not hard to convert!

  1. Great stuff!! Ill have to look into those produce bags…I hate taking them at the store. Thanks for sharing!!

  2. Great tips! I have tons of bags, but I have to remember to start throwing them back in the car after I unload! :)

  3. I started using reusable produce bags. The clerks look at them strangely at the store, but I’m sure they will get used to them in time.
